Last night I went to the movies and saw The Fogotten. It was an interesting movie, but I'm not sure it was worth the nearly $20 for two of us to see it.
So, do you have any movie recommendations? Is it a 'must see in theater' or a 'wait to rent it at the video store'? Do you know of a sleeper at the video store that no one else will think to watch? Let us know!

On Wednesday I bought myself the DVD of "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" It never came to my local area, and as I don't have TV, I never saw the previews. Still, I am a fan of the cast and really wanted to see it. So, I bought the movie, which is not something I would normally do.
I plan on watching it later tonight, so I will then be able to come back and post how wonderful it no-doubt was.

I did like the movie, but at the same time I saw how "Eternal Sunshine" wouldn't work for everyone.
LupinFan227 has been influencing me to go see Phantom of the Opera. I've seen the play, so I'm sure I'd enjoy the movie.

My two picks are "Finding Neverland" and "ALW's The Phantom of the Opera." "Neverland" is just a good, sweet happy movie. It's the story of J.M. Barrie and how he came to write "Peter Pan." Johnny Depp is great in it, and so is the little boy who plays Peter. It's a great "feel-good" movie! "Phantom" is just phenomenal! If you've ever seen the stage show, the movie answers a lot of questions and gives tons more backstory than the play. And if you haven't seen it, you'll still understand and enjoy it. Everyone is great in it, and you'll be thoroughly impressed with how easily Gerard Butler (the Phantom) can convey such emotion in song, especially with half his face covered. Plus, he's just pretty to look at! "The Aviator" is also good, though it's a little creepy, but Howard Hughes was creepy. So it's all good. "Sideways" is on my list to see, just since it got so many Oscar noms. BTW, the Oscars are on my birthday this year, so I've had to decline my invitation. I'd rather celebrate myself at home, since I didn't even get nominated this year.

I've only heard the title "Sideways" and that it's supposed to be good. What's the movie about? That, I don't know.

It's about these two middled-aged guys who take a trip through the California wine country right before one of them gets married. It's supposed to be very funny. It just got to Tinseltown here, so I may have to go see it.

Yup. Go see it. It's worth the $9.
I want to see "The Aviator". I hate Leo but I heard he was amazing in the movie.

Leo is amazing as Howard Hughes. Someone give that man an Oscar already! Although, I'd rather Johnny Depp win, out of their two respective performances this year, Leo definitely deserves it!

I actually think Liam Neeson should have been nominated for an Oscar for "Kinsey", as well as the dude from "Passion of the Christ". Just basically anyone but Micheal Moore, thank you very much.

Ah, Liam. The subject of many of my dreams...
Yes, Liam should have been nominated, though I haven't seen "Kinsey" yet. It hasn't made its way to Louisiana yet. I suppose it will be a renter. But I've come to the conclusion that dear Liam will probably never win an Oscar. He should have won for "Schindler's List" that year. So I gather unless he does something phenonmenal, it's not going to happen.

I think the only reason he wasn't nominated is because "Kinsey" wasn't hyped up like "Eternal Sunshine..." and "The Aviator". I notice that the Oscars usually aim for nominating only hyped-up movies, no matter what quality it is. I hate that. Oh, and I just saw "In Good Company" last night. I didn't really like it. It wasn't funny at all and the ending sucked. Plus Scarlett Johanssen was only in like 20 minutes of the movie.

See? I'm glad you told me about "Company." I've been wanting to see it, and the trailer made it look like Scarlett was in it the whole time. Plus, I just have a thing for Dennis Quaid. But now I don't suppose I'll see it, at least until it's out on DVD.
Speaking of DVD's, I watched "Timeline" last night. David Thewlis and Gerard Butler are in it. Every review I've read about it says it's so bad. Well, I think the critics may have been right. It wasn't terrible, but it was quite cheesy and predictable. So, I wouldn't advise wasting $4.95 on renting it.
