Besides writing fanfiction, does anyone write anything else? Poetry, songs, other short stories, working on that novel (that often gets put in a bottom drawer of the desk)?
If so, what genre do you like to write? Would you like a place to maybe share some of your original work and get feedback? Do you approach your original story and characters the same way you approach writing your fanfiction (are your methods the same)? Do you have aspirations to be published someday? Become a journalist or professional writer?

Um... I have some poetry up at fictionpress.com, under my same pen-name, but I'm working on a humor/romance novel. A fairly short-ish, not particularly serious novel about this kid getting talked into going to a professional magic show with his annoying cousins... Stuff happens after that. I approach characters kind of the same way... but I fill out a personality profile thing (like the ones you get forwarded in your e-mail) as the character... I would love to be an author someday. In fact, that's one of my long-term goals.

I've been meaning to reply to this for quite awhile and just haven't gotten to it.
Thanks for sharing the link to your poetry mrsnilecrane ~ I really liked your works.
As for me, I also dabble a bit in poetry-although I haven't written a poem in ages. Besides fanfiction (where I feel I'm 'honing' my writing), I have a science-fiction/fantasy genre trilogy mapped out and 47 chapters of the first story written (and in dire need of editing/rewrite, but that'll wait for now).
Also enjoy writing the occasional short story, and have a few I'm trying to polish to have published. Perhaps someday I'll be brave enough to share.
