Hey all. For the story that is hiding under the bed, I'm considering having a fair few flashbacks. Now, I'm not the hugest fan of flashbacks, myself. I've been burnt too many times before . However, I'm not sure if they'll add texture to the story or just annoy everyone. You can trust I won't have fuzzy vision or whatever. So, what's your opinion on flashbacks? Good? Bad? Do you think I can pull it off? Any feedback would be muchos appreciated

Flashbacks are good, and I think they can help a story. After all, the purpose of using them is to add important details [i.e. "backstory"] that we need to understand everything.
I would say a peeve of mine in others' writing [not yours, Madame] is to announce the flashback with the word "Flashback". That is an example of bad writing at it's glaring best. My advice to them is to just go into it with a bit of italics and it should work out fine.
For you, who already writes better than most, I personally don't foresee a problem in execution.

One of my stories is heavily based on flashback and diary excerpts and I was so worried it wouldnt work (it was also a sequel to what appears to be my most celebrated work) and yet I get emails from people saying they love the format.
I guess it just depends on how you approach it.

I like flashbacks. I have written one with some flashbacks called Yellow roses. And I am working on another one right now.
