Was just watching one of those entertainment news shows and heard that Ralph Fiennes has been signed to play Lord Voldemort in the movie version of Goblet of Fire (which, btw, is due to be released in November of 2005).
Anyone have any opinions or comments about this?

Ralph Fiennes, eh? I'm personally having trouble seeing it. He strikes me as too understated an actor to fit the part. Voldemort is insane and should, I think, be a little over the top.
Of course I could be totally wrong and Fiennes will do a wonderful job. Won't know until Nov. 2005 *sigh*.

This is somewhat old news. I remember reading this already on a different board I visit.
Ralph is a good actor. Let's not forget the fact that he knows how to play bad. He was the Nazi baddie in Schindler's List, and he gained weight for the role.
He's got the chops enough to do it. The one thing I find amusing of it all is how many had actually wanted him for Remus. Well, now he is connected with the project, though not in a way originally expected.

For some reason, Ralphie makes me think of that nasally guy who played Mary Stuart Masterson's stalker-cum-lover in "Bed of Roses"...
I, personally, have never seen him in anything. People keep assuring me that he's very good, though, and the previews for "Red Dragon" made him look sufficiently creepy.
As Voldemort is one of the few characters I'm not madly in love with, I don't really care who plays him. As long as the script isn't stupid. *thinks wearily back to "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement"*
