I know a few ship writers have written song-fics, but I am curious what songs you feel fit this ship. I have a small list already at GROWL which include: Distant Sun by Crowded House In My Life by The Beatles Into Temptation by Crowded House Morning Papers by Prince Overjoyed by Stevie Wonder Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden Find that here: growl.8m.net/words.htmlI once facetiously thought of adding Don't Stand So Close to Me by The Police, but I don't know if anyone else would get the humor behind that choice. So... What songs are shipper songs to you and why? Oh, and please feel free to post the lyrics! (I know some other boards out there don't like people to do that, but please feel free to share here.)

Well, I get the humor - and I happen to love Don't Stand so Close to Me anyway! I'll second all of the above (almost everything by Neil Finn and Crowded House) I also love She Will be Loved by Maroon 5!

Ah, yes... the musical god that is Neil. I have a picture of him as my wallpaper now. He's so purdy. *pets* But he makes even better music! Anyway.... Done! I found the lyrics to She Will Be Loved, and it is now on GROWL here: growl.8m.net/words/shewillbeloved.html

This morning I was driving to work and heard "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen. ;D It's big time cheesy, but it totally matches "Don't Stand So Close to Me". then again, "Hot for Teacher" could be used for any student/teacher relationship in the Potter-verse.
Also, just now I was typing a death scene. I'm back to my Elemental Force/Silver Flame saga. This one came to me.
"Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen (Words and Music by Brian May)
There's no time for us, There's no place for us, What is this thing that builds our dreams, Yet slips away from us.
Who wants to live forever, Who wants to live forever, .....?
There's no chance for us, It's all decided for us, This world has only one sweet moment Set aside for us.
Who wants to live forever, Who dares to love forever, When love must die?
But touch my tears with your lips, Touch my world with your fingertips, And we can have forever, And we can love forever, Forever is our today.
Who wants to live forever, Who wants to live forever, .....? Forever is our today, Who waits forever anyway?
It's truly gorgeous, and was actually my couple song with an ex of mine. As good as it is, though, posting it just now, maybe the song doesn't stand so well on lyrical content alone (not like Neil... but he's a completely different songwriter)

There is this Swedish band called Kent, they mostly write songs in Swedish but have done two of their records in both Swedish and English. Anyway, there is one song, 'Quiet Heart', which always make me think of Ginny/Remus. It's very sad, but oh so beautiful.
'Quiet Heart'
There was a time when I was lost in myself You took my hand became my guide There was a time you needed my help I guess my ego made me blind It's not the rain it's not the streetlights That makes your skin so pale at night
Chorus: It's your quiet heart And your silence As your teardrops stain my sheets Let's take a trip through the wires Your dream is gone you are free
Stay free
There was a time I had your life in my hands And you had life left in your eyes There was a time I caught your hiding inside From something shining through the blinds It's not the shadow by the red lights That makes my skin crawl late at night
Chorus
It's not the rain it's not the streetlights That makes your skin so pale at night
It's your quiet heart It's your silence As your teardrops stain my sheets Let's take a trip through the wires Your dream is gone you are free
It's your quiet heart And your silence As your teardrops stain my sheets Let's take a trip through the wires Our love is dead you are free

OT-ish to Ylva: My favorite Kent song is "Dom Andra", but that's also the only one I know. Love the video and whistle melody.

I always associate this song - "To Sir with love" with G/R.
Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone But in my mind I know they will still live on and on But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume? It isn't easy, but I'll try
If you wanted the sky I would write across the sky in letters That would soar a thousand feet high `To Sir, With Love'
The time has come for closing books and long last looks must end And as I leave I know that I am leaving my best friend A friend who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong That's a lot to learn, but what can I give you in return?
If you wanted the moon I would try to make a start But I would rather you let me give my heart 'To Sir With Love'

I was reading this topic and only two songs came up on my mind. This one is from the movie Coyote Ugly:
BUT I DO LOVE YOU
I don't like to be alone in the night And I don't like to hear I'm wrong when I'm right And I don't like to have the rain on my shoe But I do love you, but I do love you I don't like to see the sky painted gray And I don't like when nothing's going my way And I don't like to be the one with the blues But I do love you, but I do love you Love everything about the way you're loving me The way you lay your head Upon my shoulder when you sleep And I love to kiss you in the rain I love everything you do, oh I do I don't like to turn the radio on Just to find I missed my favorite song And I don't like to be the last with the news But I do love you, but I do love you Love everything about the way you're loving me The way you lay your head Upon my shoulder when you sleep And I love to kiss you in the rain I love everything you do, oh I do And I don't like to be alone in the night And I don't like to hear I'm wrong when I'm right And I don't like to have the rain on my shoes But I do love you but I do love you But I do love you but I do love you
And there is one more called Let me love you with the Swedish artist Johan Becker. I actually found the lyrics to it:
Let me love you..
There's a full moon out tonight There's a feeling of love when you touch me And I hope I get this right Hope that you can make sense out of something
Help me make you see What tonight could be
Let me love you From the bottom of my heart Let me love you 'til all the stars surrender to the dark And though words sometimes fail me I just wanna say Nothing or no one's ever touch me this way Let me love you from the bottom of my heart
I was thinking it's too late I was walking through life without living Then you came and showed the way And you gave me a whole new beginning
Baby make this night The first day of the rest of our lifes
Let me love you, From the bottom of my heart Let me love you 'til all the stars surrender to the dark And though words sometimes fail me I just wanna say Nothing or no one's ever touch me this way Let me love you from the bottom of my heart
Let me love you From the bottom of my heart Let me love you 'til all the stars surrender to the dark (to the dark) And though words sometimes fail me I just wanna say Nothing or no one's ever touch me this way Let me love you from the bottom of my heart
Let me love you..

Franz Ferdinand, Auf Asche (Modified to include only the things that apply, so this isn't all of the song)-
You see her, you can't touch her You hear her, you can't hold her You want her, you can't have her You want to, but she won't let you
She's not so special so look what you've done, boy She's not so special so look what you've done, boy
Now you wish she'd never come back here again Oh, never come back here again
You see her, you can't touch her You hear her, you can't hold her You want her, you can't have her You want to, but she won't let you
She's not so special so look what you've done, boy She's not so special so look what you've done, boy
Now I'm nailed above you Gushing from my side It's with your sins that you have killed me Thinking of your sins I die Thinking how you'd let them touch you How you'd never realise That I'm ripped and hang forsaken Knowing never will I rise Again
You still see her Oh, you hear her You want her Oh, you want to You see her You still hear her You want her You still want to
The Dresden Dolls, Misses me-
Missed me, missed me now you've got to kiss me if you kiss me mister I might tell my brother if I tell him mister he might tell my mother and my mother, mister, just might tell my father and my father mister he won't be too happy and he'll have his lawyer come up from the city and arrest you mister so I wouldnt miss me if you get me, mister, see?
Missed me, missed me now you've got to kiss me if you kiss me mister you must think I'm pretty if you think so mister you must want to f*ck me if you f*ck me mister it must mean you love me if you love me mister you would never leave me it's as simple as can be!
Missed me, missed me now you've got to kiss me if you miss me mister why do you keep leaving if you trick me mister I will make you suffer and they'll get you mister put you in the slammer and forget you mister then I think you'll miss me won't you miss me. won't you miss me?
Missed me missed me now you've got to kiss me if you kiss me mister take responsibility I'm fragile mister just like any girl would be and so misunderstood (so treat me delicately!)
Missed me, missed me now you've gone and done it hope you're happy in the county penitentiary it serves you right for kissing little girls but I will visit if you miss me Do you miss me? MISS ME? How's the food they feed you? Do you miss me? Will you kiss me through the window? Do you MISS ME? MISS ME? Will they ever let you go? I miss my mister so! (The ones in italics have been changed from sister to brother and she to he). *
I know the Dresden doll one doesn't really sound like something Ginny would do, but I thought the whole younger girl thing applied well. And they're two of my favourites songs.

Well, being heavily influenced by the story you are writing has a hand in the sort of song you think sums up their relationship (or perhaps the songs you listen to influence the stories you write ). This probably has something to do with some musicians wanting their music to relate to loads of people, and instead of ourselves we're using fictional characters. At the moment, I am co-writing a perfectly snotty, bratty fic with Astrid the Mighty and so I think that "She's a Rebel" by Green Day is totally rad for describing the connection between our favourite pair! She's a rebel She's a saint She's salt of the earth And she's dangerous
She's a rebel Vigilante Missing link on the brink Of destruction
From Chicago to Toronto She's the one that they Call old whatsername
She's the symbol of resistance and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade
is she dreaming what I'm thinking is she the mother of all bombs gonna detonate
is she trouble like I'm trouble make it a double twist of fate or a melody that
sings the revolution the dawning of our lives she brings the liberation that I just cant define nothing comes to mind
She's a rebel She's a saint She's salt of the earth And she's dangerous
She's a rebel Vigilante Missing link on the brink Of destruction
She's a rebel, She's a rebel, She's a rebel, And she's dangerous She's a rebel, She's a rebel, She's a rebel, And she's dangerous
I can't wait until we unleash it !

I just realized! I had it straight under my nose! I didnt realize it until I listened to Mamma Mia! (The musical).
"Does your mother know" By ABBA is great. It is my way of seeing Ginny/Remus. Humoristic and cute.
"You're so hot, teasing me So you're blue but I can't take a chance on a chick like you That's something I couldn't do There's that look in your eyes I can read in your face that your feelings are driving you wild Ah, but girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey If you think it's funny Does your mother know that you're out? And I can chat with you baby Flirt a little maybe Does your mother know that you're out?
Take it easy (take it easy) Better slow down girl That's no way to go Does your mother know? Take it easy (take it easy) Try to cool it girl Take it nice and slow Does your mother know?
I can see what you want But you seem pretty young to be searching for that kind of fun So maybe I'm not the one Now you're so cute, I like your style And I know what you mean when you give me a flash of that smile (smile) But girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey If you think it's funny Does your mother know that you're out? And I can chat with you baby Flirt a little maybe Does your mother know that you're out?
(repeat 2x and fade)"
